380-400 GSM brushed fleece provides maximum warmth for winter hoodies and sweatpants. 320-360 GSM is suitable for moderate climates. Higher GSM = more insulation.
Anti-pill or regular fleece - which is better?
Anti-pill fleece (with chemical or mechanical treatment) maintains appearance longer and is worth the 10-15% cost premium for quality brands. It resists surface fiber balling significantly better.
Can fleece be printed or embroidered?
Embroidery works excellently on fleece due to thick fabric. Screen printing requires special low-bleed inks for dark colors. Heat transfer and applique also work well.
What's the blend ratio for fleece?
80/20 cotton-polyester is most common for warmth and durability. 100% cotton fleece is softer but less durable and shrinks more. 50/50 blends balance cost and performance.
How do I prevent fleece shrinkage?
Use pre-shrunk fleece or account for 3-5% shrinkage in patterns. Wash in cold water and tumble dry low. Avoid high heat which can cause excessive shrinkage.
